Amazing Loons with Larry BacklundEntertainment-Lunch & LearnJoin us as we take a look at one of the most unique and amazing birds around - the common loon, but the common loon is anything but common! In this presentation you will learn about some of the things that make loons different from any other bird. Why will a loon die if he land on dry ground, unless someone rescues him? Where do loons go in the winter? How do loons “talk” to each other...and can you learn to tell what they are saying? How long does a loon live? How can you tell a male loon from a female? Which state has the most loons? How fast can a loon fly? You will find out the answers to these questions and many other things you have always wanted to know about loons. Larry Backlund is known worldwide as the creator and host of the LoonCam and is recognized as an expert on loons. He holds degrees in physics, aerospace engineering and education.
