  • 3 DAY LONG CAMP

    Experience a mini-week long camp! Campers will get to experience everyday life at a barn! Life in the barn will include activities such as daily riding, learning how to braid manes and tails with ribbon, groom and care for the horses (including bathing) and feed them at the end of the day. This is a great time for campers to spend time outdoors and build lasting friendships with fellow horse lovers in a structured and positive environment. Campers are broken into smaller groups of similar riding experience, which is perfect for both the new and more experienced riders. Please note that riding takes about 1 hour per day in an arena, no trails and consist of learning to how to steer, stop, turn, and walk/trot on their own. Campers will spend time on the ground with horses throughout the rest of the day. WHAT DO CAMPERS NEED TO BRING? ●Long pants, closed toe shoes, appropriate clothes for weather inside and outside of barn. ●No flip flops. ●Sunscreen/hat/bug spray ●Water bottle/drinks/snacks and a lunch (lunch only for day camps) ●Treats for the horses if you want ●Helmets are provided. Camps are held rain or shine, as we have an indoor barn and arena. Sorry we do not allow parents to stay for the day. Parents are required to drop off and pick up.
  • 3D Printing & CAD

    Printing & Material Fee included. This camp takes students through the 3D printing process from start to finish. Students will design 3D objects using TinkerCAD and use the 3D slicing program Cura to bring their creations to life. This course is an excellent introduction to 3D printing and is ideal for students who like to draw, design, imagine, and see their creations come to life. Students will print one key chain during class. If printing is not completed in class, prints will be mailed home. Things to bring to class: Please bring lunch and a drink.
  • 3D Printing: Harry Potter

    Learn 3D design and modeling skills using Tinkercad while creating a wand, then create your own magical pendant. Create fun designs to complete different magical CAD challenges. This course will introduce students to using CAD modeling & design software. They'll also do fun Hogwarts-inspired challenges in TinkerCAD's SimLab. Student-designed pendants will be printed and sent home at the end of class. Printing and material fees are included. If printing is not completed in class, prints will be mailed home. Things to bring to class: Please bring lunch and a drink.

    This course follows the American Academy of Pediatrics – Babysitter Lessons And Safety Training (BLAST). Students learn current practices for safety and injury prevention, first aid basics, feeding and caring for infants, how to handle behavior problems, and how to manage their babysitting business. Students receive a reference book, recipe and game handouts, babysitting bag and first aid kit. Bring a bag lunch, beverage and a snack.

  • BMX Community Ed Night

    Rum River BMX is the #1 indoor facility in the country for BMX bike racing. Unlike traditional sports, in BMX, no one sits on the bench! BMX riding is a great way for kids and adults to stay active, build confidence, develop important life skills, connect with others, and have fun. This session will cover BMX fundamentals including "What is BMX racing?" racing bike types, BMX terminology, and BMX safety. Also, the most important lesson, how to RIDE LIKE THE WIND! Students will receive hands-on riding instructions and will practice their new skills on the BMX track. This course is designed for new riders (novice) who are interested in the sport. If you can pedal your bike without training wheels, you can take part in this class. No special bikes are required, if it has wheels, a few adjustments and we will make it work for this class (your bike will need to have the reflectors, kickstand, chain guard and pegs removed). If you do not have a bike, we have a fleet of HARO race bikes available at the track for use on a first come first serve basis. A full-face helmet is recommended, as helmets are required.You must wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt and close-toed shoes.

  • Boys Basketball Camp, 10th-12th Grade

    Basketball, Boys 10th-12th Grade This camp is designed for returning high school boys basketball players entering grades 10–12th. It will be run by Coach Waterworth & his high school coaching staff. This camp will focus on developing both offensive and defensive skills needed to be a varsity basketball player. Camp will focus on improving shooting, passing, catching, ball-handling fundamentals as well as individual and team defensive skills. Players will need to bring a water bottle. Basketballs will be provided. We understand conflicts will arise throughout the summer but players should register even if there are a few dates they will miss due to vacations and/or other sports. Players who register for this camp are also strongly encouraged to register for strength and conditioning sessions prior to basketball.
  • Boys Basketball Camp, 7th-9th Grade

    Basketball, Boys Grades (7th-9th) This camp is designed for competitive basketball players entering grades 7th-9th. It will be run by Coach Waterworth & his high school coaching staff.   • Boys Soccer Camp (7-12th)

    This camp is for players who are entering 7th-12th grade. During the camp, players will work on attacking, defending, dribbling, shooting, passing, positioning, possession, and team development. It will be a great environment for players to practice with their teammates before the regular season starts in August. The high school coaching staff will be running the camp. Players will need to bring cleats, shin guards, and plenty of water.
  • California Sushi Roll Extravaganza!

    When it comes to actual sushi that is made with sushi grade raw fish such as salmon or tuna wrapped in rice and seaweed, the sushi tolerance spectrum runs from a very strong “YES” or a very strong “NO” with little wiggle room in between. Enter California “sushi” Rolls that overwhelmingly turn the strong “NO’s” into strong yeses! Join Tess as she walks you through how to make a variety of the most marvelous California rolls that will make you wonder why you haven’t tried to make your own before. California “sushi” roll combinations are only limited by your imagination! Make them vegetarian, with or without seaweed, spicy or not, it is totally up to you! Learn the skill of creating delicious seasoned sushi rice, spicy mayo, and how to stuff, wrap / shape the rolls, with wonderful filling ingredients. One of these fillings is a “crab” salad that will be created using crabsticks. Make it a date night or family night as you create lasting memories in your kitchen! Have your questions answered by the instructor, interact with other participants as you cook along, and increase your confidence in the kitchen with each skill that is learned, and each little bit of advice and instruction that is shared. While cooking-along is loads of fun, and highly recommended, it is optional. Participants will receive a list of ingredients in advance of the class with enough time for shopping and preparation. A professionally made PDF packet of the Instructors Personal Recipes from this class will also be received. This class will take place on Zoom; free on-line software. Participants will receive instructions on how to access the class prior to it starting. As an added bonus, the instructor has created a private group and a public group on Facebook for participants of her cooking classes. Everyone will receive an invite to the groups although joining is optional. Come join the fun! Ingredients / supplies in case participants wish to order or shop early for some ingredients: Sushi rice, sushi nori /seaweed sheets, toasted sesame oil, (Japanese) rice vinegar. Additional ingredients will be listed in the information packet that will be received 5-7 days before the class. Bamboo sushi rolling mat can be helpful, but not necessary. Note: One registration fee for this on-line virtual interactive class can include immediate family members living full-time in the same home ONLY. If children are participating, adult supervision is required.

  • Classroom-Distance Learning and Behind the Wheel

    The State of Minnesota has extended the opportunity to teleconference classroom driver education instruction thru August 2023. Student must attend St. Francis Area Schools or reside within the district to enroll in behind the wheel. St. Francis Area Schools Community Education has entered into a partnership with A+ Driving School to provide you this option for classroom instruction only until further notice. This is an opportunity for students ages 14 years of age and older to complete their 30 hours of classroom training from home! St. Francis Area Schools Community Education offers 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of Behind-the-Wheel (BTW) instruction. Our teachers are licensed with the State of Minnesota, and have Driver Education Certification. Our program has been approved by the State of Minnesota Department of Public Safety. The years of experience of our instructors, along with their certification, provide a safe, high quality program for students. This class will be offered via teleconference in the safety of your own home! You will receive a secure login to the Online classroom approximately 2 business days prior to the first class. Classroom Instruction: The 30 hour classroom course includes an extensive study of the Minnesota Drivers Manual, right of way rules, emergency situations, adverse driving, drinking and driving problems, and proper attitudes and responsibilities about driving. To pass the classroom portion, student must attend all 30 hours of classroom training. After classroom instruction is completed, the student will be issued a blue card if registered for BTW, if not registered for BTW, the student will receive a letter of completion (once student registers for BTW the blue card will be issued). The student will take the blue card along with the appropriate ID (see identification requirements at www.communityed15.com), corrective lenses (if needed) and fee to a Minnesota Drivers and Vehicle Services location. Classroom location: Currently being offered via teleconference. You will receive confirmation of your enrollment prior to the start of class. Students enrolling in classroom-only may enroll in behind the wheel after successful completion of the 30 hours of classroom. Currently, all blue cards will be mailed to the students home the week after successful completion of the class. Classroom Instruction: Classroom is currently being offered teleconference to your home. The 30 hour classroom course includes an extensive study of the Minnesota Drivers Manual, right of way rules, emergency situations, adverse driving, drinking and driving problems, and proper attitudes and responsibilities about driving. To pass the classroom portion, student must attend all 30 hours of classroom training. After classroom instruction is completed, the student will be issued a blue card if registered for BTW, if not registered for BTW, the student will receive a letter of completion (once student registers for BTW the blue card will be issued). Behind-the-Wheel Instruction: Once the student has received their permit, they can schedule the 6 hour BTW instruction(Note-A student MUST provide proof of permit to CE office to actually be placed on the waiting list for their behind the wheel hours. Failure to complete this required step will delay scheduling). When the student has completed BTW, they will receive a white card. The student must have their permit for 6 months and effective January 1, 2015 every driver under the age of 18 who completes BTW instruction and is testing for a driver’s license must submit a driving log. Parents/ Guardians have two options regarding the driving log: 1. Complete a parent class provided by a driver education program approved in Minnesota(please see https://aplusdrivingschool.net/a-advantage/), and then submit a supervised driving log showing their teen has completed at least 40 hours of supervised driving, 15 of which are nighttime hours and a certificate of completion for the class; or 2. If the parent/guardian chooses to not complete the parent class, the driving log must show that their teen has completed at least 50 hours of supervised driving, 15 of which are night time hours. The road test needs to be scheduled with Minnesota Drivers and Vehicle Services, bring white card, proof of insurance, fee, permit, social security number and corrective lenses (if needed). Students must be 16 years old, had their instructional permit for 6 months and completed Behind the Wheel(BTW) prior to testing for their drivers license. Cost: The total cost of classroom and BTW is $430.00 payable at registration. Cost includes a $10 discount for registering for both! If you wish to register separately, cost of classroom is $110 and BTW is $330. No discount will apply if registering separately. No other discounts may be applied to these classes. Refunds: Please read carefully! Cancellations received within 5 or more business days prior to the start of class will qualify for a refund minus a $10 processing fee. If cancellation is made less than 5 business days prior to the start of class, you will forfeit the $110 classroom fee. After six months, no refund will be given for behind the wheel. BTW hours are be non-transferable. A $75 fee is retained if you cancel BTW within six months. No-Show Fee: If a student has signed up for BTW lessons with an instructor and fails to show up for a scheduled session, a $75 no-show fee will be charged, payable to Community Ed. Students will not be scheduled for another lesson until the no-show fee is paid.
