  • "The Stringman" Paul Imholte

    If it has strings, Paul Imholte probably plays it. Paul performs traditional American, Celtic, and original music on a nearly a dozen folk instruments. For the Lunch Bunch Show in March, he’ll play primarily traditional Irish music and throw in some of his original songs and instrumentals. A featured instrument of Paul is the hammered dulcimer. The hammered dulcimer is a trapezoid-shaped, string instrument. The strings of the instrument are struck with light hammers producing an enchanting sound. Paul also sings and plays fiddle, guitar, banjo, mandolin, viola, cello, mountain dulcimer, autoharp, harmonica, jaw harp, and spoons. Paul’s music reflects growing up in rural Minnesota. He sings songs about about farms, small towns, and the people that make their living on the land. He has released twelve CDs of hammered dulcimer instrumentals and his original songs. Paul makes his home in St. Cloud, Minnesota and tours throughout the United States performing at festivals, schools, and concerts.

    Since 1882, the Midwest’s most well known entertainers, the Chmielewski Family, have been synonymous with polka music. Over 100 years later and into six succeeding generations, the Chmielewski Family music has never stopped. In 1989, the “Chmielewski Family Funtime Band” swept the Minnesota Music Academy and for three consecutive years dominated by winning nine out of the eleven awards in the polka field. They produced over 1800 television shows broadcast throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Larry was a pianist for two casts of the musical show, “Up With People.” He has performed for and taught thousands of people across the United States, Canada, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Argentina, Venezuela, Morocco, India, Bangladesh, China, Japan, Russia, Sweden, Austria, Switzerland, Germany and Belgium. Once a 4-H Educator in northwest Minnesota, Larry worked with teens to create educational musical shows for young people. One of these shows, the "Pollution Solution", was performed at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., and in 5 states, for which he received the 'Clean Rivers" award from the Governor of Minnesota. For 50 years, Larry has performed in and directed musical shows including the educational experience “The Minnesotan and the Mexican” and the celebration for the anniversary of the Historic Holmes Theatre. His longest “gig” was producing and directing the longest running musical show in the entire Midwest at a well-known northern Minnesota resort! He has recorded three CD’s of international children’s songs. These days you can find him still singing and playing in schools, camps, community centers, churches and libraries.
